Bracknell MP looking forward to fibre broadband launch

Friday, January 4th 2013 by Miles Northrop
Phillip Lee MP has said the rollout of super-fast broadband will be good news for his constituency.

Bracknell MP Dr Phillip Lee has predicted that the launch of super-fast 4G and fibre optic broadband services will make 2013 a positive year for his constituency.

In a political summary of the past 12 months, Dr Lee said 2012 produced some "welcome results" for Bracknell and expressed his hope that this year will prove to be "as fruitful".

Among the upcoming developments applauded by the MP is the plan to roll out super-fast broadband across the area by late 2013.

Last summer, BT confirmed it is planning to extend its fibre optic broadband coverage to Finchampstead, which is part of the constituency.

Dr Lee noted that with ten per cent of the world's IT firms based in the Thames Valley area, it is "unacceptable" that residents and businesses have been stuck for so long with poor-quality internet connectivity.

"The internet has changed the world," he commented. "We cannot allow anyone in the UK to be left behind."
