Every property in Deddington will be upgraded to receive super-fast broadband by early next year.

BT has revealed that the Oxfordshire village of Deddington is set to become the first exchange area in the UK where every property receives fibre optic broadband.

Openreach, the telecoms giant's local access network business, will carry out a series of upgrades in the area over the next nine to ten months.

As a result of the work, all homes and businesses in and around Deddington will be able to connect to super-fast broadband with speeds of up to 100Mbps by early 2013.

Customers should be able to sign up for BT's Infinity fibre optic broadband service from next January, the company explained.

"We're going to keep on providing services over the current network for the time being. So if customers don't want to move to fibre ... they won't need do anything," BT added.

Last September, BT announced plans to roll out super-fast broadband to around 60,000 properties across Oxfordshire, including those in parts of Oxford, Banbury and Headington.
