BT 'committed to Yorkshire and the Humber fibre broadband rollout'

Friday, February 8th 2013 by Miles Northrop
New BT regional director for Yorkshire and the Humber Tom Keeney says the company is committed to improving local broadband speeds.

BT's new regional director for Yorkshire and the Humber has restated the telecoms giant's commitment to investing in high-speed fibre optic broadband.

Tom Keeney, who will head up a team of 12 senior executives based in the region, said fibre broadband will be available to more than one million homes and businesses across Yorkshire and the Humber by the end of the year.

Highlighting the company's commitment to the area, Mr Keeney pointed out that BT employs more than 7,000 local people, has its supply chain office in Northallerton and also operates large contact centres or offices in Doncaster, Leeds and York.

The new regional director said he is determined to help residents and businesses throughout the area enjoy the benefits of super-fast broadband connectivity.

"As more and more people get connected to the fibre broadband network, it's increasingly important that those living in our more rural areas don't miss out," he explained.
