Better broadband has arrived in Marchington and Draycott-in-the-Clay.

Fibre optic broadband has arrived in Marchington and Draycott-in-the-Clay thanks to the Superfast Staffordshire rollout project.

The Uttoxeter Advertiser reports that 20,000 homes and businesses in the county can now access the high-speed technology, with 700 of these based in Marchington and Draycott-in-the-Clay.

Almost 12,000 metres of fibre optic cables were required to deliver the superfast internet connections to these two villages, with BT's Openreach engineers facing a series of challenges along the way.

However, Economy Leader at Staffordshire County Council Mark Winnington commented: "This is what the Superfast Staffordshire project is all about - making a real difference to communities across the county in improving business, education and leisure opportunities and accessibility generally."

People based in the latest two villages to receive a broadband upgrade under the scheme should now be able to access download speeds of up to 80Mbps and upload speeds of up to 20Mbps.
