FSB calls for broadband boost

The Federation of Small Businesses believes improved broadband could have far-reaching benefits for smaller firms.

The delivery of improved broadband access for smaller companies up and down the country would be a positive step towards a stronger economy in the coming years, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has argued.

According to the organisation, the rollout of new technologies that could boost the productivity and profitability of smaller companies is taking place faster than the introduction of new infrastructure to support these systems and this is an issue that the new government should aim to address.

As such, the FSB believes an increased commitment to the delivery of superfast and even ultrafast (1 Gbps and greater) broadband could hold the key to unlocking the vast potential of the UK's smaller businesses during the next parliament.

Hampshire Development Manager for the FSB Neil Eames stated: "Every day the nation's entrepreneurs face many challenges, but overcome them they do and continue to generate jobs and grow the economy."
