FTTH fibre broadband trial launched in Bournemouth

Fibreband has launched a trial of its fibre-to-the-home service in Bournemouth.

Some 250 homes in Bournemouth are taking part in a trial of ultra-fast fibre optic broadband conducted by Fibreband.

The fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service, which is delivered by the CityFibre broadband network, offers symmetrical speeds of at least 100Mbps. Residents in the BH10 and BH11 postcode areas involved in the pilot scheme will be able to take advantage of the product without having to pay any subscription fee.

General manager at Fibreband Andrew Troman said the company is pleased to be CityFibre's first internet service provider partner and revealed it has "high hopes" for the network operator's future deployments.

The company is planning to start building new infrastructure in early 2012 with a view to connecting every home in Bournemouth by mid-2013.

"As a local service provider, we understand the needs of the people of Bournemouth and want to provide a mould-breaking broadband service that is the envy of other towns and cities," Mr Troman added.
