Amber Rudd MP believes superfast fibre broadband is a vital part of the future for her constituents.

MP for Hastings and Rye Amber Rudd has expressed her views on the rollout of fibre optic broadband to her constituents, stating she believes this needs to be extended to secure further business growth.

Writing in the Hastings Observer, Ms Rudd stated: "As part of my vision for 2020 I want to ensure that all areas of the constituency are able to access the infrastructure they need to support business growth and increase employment."

She explained this does not just involve investment in travel, but in digital infrastructure as well, meaning that the rollout of superfast broadband in the local area will be vital in helping to ensure this.

Between 2011 and 2014, coverage of the high-speed technology in Hastings has increased from three per cent to 67 per cent, but this indicates there is still some way to go to make sure all homes and businesses in the area can access the superfast internet service.

This is especially important for this particular community, as 60 per cent of its population is employed by a small business and these are becoming increasingly reliant on superfast broadband.
