Video streaming and online gaming will be used by KC's fibre broadband customers this Christmas, the telecoms firm has predicted.

KC has predicted its fibre optic broadband customers will taking advantage of streaming movies and playing online games over the festive season.

Nick Thompson, director of consumer services at the east Yorkshire-based telecoms firm, noted Experian Hitwise has predicted 12 million hours will be spent during the Christmas and new year period watching video clips on the BBC iPlayer.

"We expect our fibre broadband customers in Hull and east Yorkshire, who are receiving super-fast download speeds of 100Mbps, will be amongst [them]," he remarked.

From midnight on December 23rd to the same time on Boxing Day, KC is giving its Lite, Mid and Pro broadband subscribers unlimited downloads, allowing them to make the most of online entertainment over the Christmas weekend.

KC is currently trialling fibre optic broadband throughout the East Riding and is aiming to roll out the technology to 15,000 homes and businesses by the end of 2012.

Weel is the latest community to have been included in the super-fast broadband pilot scheme.
