Llandudno and Abergele to get fibre broadband by Christmas

Residents in Llandudno and Abergele should be able to access fibre broadband by the end of 2014.

Network provider BT has confirmed homes and businesses in the Welsh areas of Llandudno and Abergele will be able to access superfast fibre optic broadband by Christmas this year.

The operator informed Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar and local MP Guto Bebb of these plans, which will see residential and commercial properties connected to the high-speed technology under the Superfast Cymru regional rollout programme.

Mr Millar commented: "High-speed communications are crucial in the fast-moving and changing world that we work and live in, so I look forward to the benefits this improved broadband will bring."

Overall, Superfast Cymru aims to deliver the service to 96 per cent of premises throughout Wales, with the rollout expected to be complete by 2016.

Until now, some communities in the vicinity have experienced inadequate internet connections, but these have started to improve thanks to the better broadband project.

For instance, residents and firms based in the Conwy Valley and Kinmel Bay can now access faster loading speeds thanks to fibre broadband.
