Peninsula Enterprise to deliver fibre broadband business support

Tuesday, February 26th 2013 by Paul France
Cornish businesses are to be offered guidance on how to take advantage of super-fast broadband.

Peninsula Enterprise is set to deliver a fibre optic broadband business support programme designed to help firms in Cornwall make the most of the technology.

The project, called Superfast Business Cornwall, is backed by £2.25 million from the European Regional Development Fund Convergence and will be achieved in partnership with the University of Exeter and Superfast Cornwall.

From spring 2013, businesses will be offered help and advice on how to harness the opportunities provided by fibre broadband and related technologies.

Two 'digital business enablers' will work closely with firms, offering them 19 days of access to specialist guidance and expertise from industry heavyweights such as Microsoft.

Adam Chambers, chief executive of Peninsula Enterprise, said fibre broadband connectivity can be a "transformational" technology for businesses that take advantage of it.

Sebeail Fowell, project and partnership manager for the programme, said: "The Superfast Business Cornwall service will help businesses access invaluable knowledge, expertise and funding to enable them to exploit all the opportunities that super-fast broadband can provide."
