The company has launched a free support download called Plusnet Assist.

Fibre optic broadband provider Plusnet has launched a new tool designed to help customers tackle commonly faced problems regarding internet access.

The Plusnet Assist solution, which can be downloaded for free from the Plusnet website, means connectivity woes "no longer need to be a headache", the company stated.

Sitting in a computer's system tray until it is required, the service is designed to fix the majority of issues quickly and efficiently, as well as direct people towards the best source of information on their queries.

It includes specific guidance on connection problems for Thomson 516 and 585, and Netgear WNR1000 routers, as well as generic help about other equipment.

Other features include support on setting up a Plusnet email account and linking a computer to a wireless broadband connection.

Launched earlier this year, Plusnet's fibre optic broadband service offers download speeds of up to 40Mbps and a choice between a 40GB and 120GB monthly usage allowance.
