Sheffield broadband grants 'almost exhausted'

Grant funding to help Sheffield businesses achieve improved online access could soon run out.

Businesses across Sheffield are being urged to make use of grant funding towards the provision of improved broadband access while they still can.

Companies are continuing to make use of grants being made available via the ongoing Super Connected Cities programme, but the £40 million cashpot for the initiative could soon be exhausted, the Sheffield Star reports.

Opened up to businesses across both West and South Yorkshire from April 1st, the initiative has proven extremely popular in recent months and has already seen almost 700 successful applications for grants.

Businesses are able to make use of connection vouchers valued at up to £3,000, with the money helping firms to invest in new technologies or to make changes to their premises to enhance their overall connectivity.

However, Sheffield City Council has now warned current funding for the project could run out as soon as November, so all those wishing to make use of the scheme need to act fast.
