Fibre broadband pre-registration launched by Be

Consumers can now register their interest in receiving Be Broadband's fibre service.

Be Broadband has opened the pre-registration scheme for its first ever fibre optic service, which could go live before the end of the year.

By allowing consumers to express their interest in signing up for fibre broadband in advance, the company is hoping to discover which areas of the UK have the highest levels of demand for next-generation access.

Chris Stening, the internet service provider's managing director, announced at the end of last month that it is planning to launch a super-fast broadband product.

At the time, he stressed Be's fibre-based broadband packages are unlikely to be the cheapest on the market, but the firm is determined to be rated as the best.

The company will therefore look to offer an unlimited and unthrottled service so subscribers can take full advantage of their fibre optic connection, Mr Stening explained.

He added: "It's great to be told you could get speeds up to some high level, but with traffic management it is unlikely you'll get it for long."
