Fibre broadband provider KC signs open internet code

KC has explained its reasons behind signing the open internet code of conduct.

Fibre optic broadband provider KC has pledged to continue offering access to all legal online services and make any restrictions clear to subscribers.

The east Yorkshire-based company is one of nine providers to sign up to the recently launched voluntary code of conduct on open access, along with the likes of BT, Sky and TalkTalk.

Drawn up by the Broadband Stakeholder Group, the code also calls on signatories not to block or restrict access to content or services provided by their rivals.

KC explained this will mean customers can enjoy the best possible online experience, regardless of the kind of services they are trying to use.

Nick Thompson, director of consumer markets at KC, noted that traffic on the company's network has increased in recent years due to the growing popularity of BBC iPlayer and YouTube.

"That's why we're continually investing in our existing network and why we embarked earlier this year on our ambitious programme to roll out lightning-fast fibre broadband," he added.
