KC pledges to extend fibre broadband coverage

The company is set to roll out the technology to additional properties over the coming months.

KC has insisted it will continue to extend the reach of its fibre optic broadband service once the current rollout has been completed.

The Hull telecoms firm announced in July that it would deploy super-fast broadband to 15,000 homes in East Yorkshire over the next year and a half, with the work kicking off in the village of Woodmansey.

However, some customers living in parts of Woodmansey not covered by the rollout have expressed concern that they will not be able to benefit from improved connection speeds, reports the Hull Daily Mail.

Moving to ease these fears, KC's director of consumer services Nick Thompson said additional properties will be included in the next phase.

The trial of up to 100Mbps fibre broadband speeds began in Woodmansey at the start of September.

At the time, Mr Thompson commented: "We're really keen to get people to sign up to the trial and start experiencing breathtaking speeds many times faster than current services."
