KC seeks participants for East Yorks fibre broadband trial

The telecoms firm is testing its new fibre broadband service in Woodmansey.

East Yorkshire telecoms firm KC has launched a six-month fibre optic broadband trial in the village of Woodmansey, north of Hull.

Current subscribers to Karoo, KC's internet service provider subsidiary, have been invited to take part in the scheme. In return for giving feedback on performance, participants will receive speeds of up to 100Mbps and unlimited downloads, for no more than the cost of their existing packages.

The company announced plans to enter the fibre broadband market in July and has since been busy rolling out the technology across Woodmansey.

KC is aiming to connect the first households to fibre to the home or fibre to the kerb by the end of the month.

Nick Thompson, KC's director of consumer services, said: "We're really keen to get people to sign up to the trial and start experiencing breathtaking speeds."

The firm's initial fibre deployment will see the technology made available to 15,000 homes in East Yorkshire.
