BT highlights Haworth fibre broadband coverage ahead of Le Tour

Thursday, May 9th 2013 by Paul France
Thousands of Haworth properties are able to access super-fast broadband, BT has noted.

BT has highlighted the scope of its fibre optic broadband network in Haworth and the surrounding areas as they prepare to play host to part of next summer's Tour de France.

A spokesman for the telecoms giant noted that the Haworth exchange has already been enabled with fibre broadband, allowing approximately 5,000 local homes and businesses to access the service, reports the Keighley News.

Across the Bradford district, more than 148,000 properties will be reached by BT's super-fast broadband network by the end of spring 2014, he explained.

The comments come in response to calls from local campaign group FibreValley, which argues that the rural towns and villages will fail to make the most of the opportunities presented by the major cycle race unless internet connectivity is improved.

Ken Eastwood, leader of the campaign, commented: "FibreValley members would love to see Le Tour leading to change and leaving a lasting legacy in Haworth and the wider Worth Valley.
