BT promises to boost Chipping Barnet fibre broadband coverage

BT has said it will increase superfast broadband access in Chipping Barnet.

Fibre optic broadband coverage is to be increased in Chipping Barnet, local MP Theresa Villiers has been promised.

The telecoms giant explained it began working on improving connectivity in the area after receiving complaints from thousands of residents who were frustrated at being unable to access the technology, reports the Barnet and Potters Bar Times.

As part of the project, 55 street cabinets have already been installed in the constituency, with around 25,000 homes and businesses set to receive access to superfast speeds in the near future.

Ms Villiers spoke with senior representatives from BT earlier this week and was given further insight into the work being undertaken by the communications provider in Chipping Barnet.

The Conservative MP was told that 93 per cent of the county should be able to access fast broadband once the company completes its programme of upgrades in London.

"I will continue to press BT to ensure that as many homes and businesses as possible can be connected to fibre broadband in Chipping Barnet," she promised.
