CityFibre to deploy fibre broadband to one million UK homes

One million UK homes are set to benefit from super-fast broadband from CityFibre.

CityFibre Holdings has announced a new deal that will help the company provide fibre broadband infrastructure to one million UK homes and 50,000 businesses.

The organisation has teamed up with infrastructure corporate finance provider Macquarie Capital in a deal that will see CityFibre embarking on its ambitious metropolitan cities network development plans in early 2012.

It is the aim of the company to help to provide next-generation broadband access to councils, public services, businesses and service providers.

Bill Kennish, head of telecommunications, media entertainment and technology at Macquarie Capital in Europe, said: "We are pleased to work with CityFibre as it seeks to further develop its fibre optic infrastructure in selected UK markets, given the substantial unmet demand for super-fast broadband services."

CityFibre also recently announced it has begun work on repairs to the fibre-to-the-home network in Bournemouth - which it purchased in January this year - with claims that by December, 20,000 properties will have access to its services.
