Cornwall Showground gets fibre optic broadband

Tuesday, October 15th 2013 by Paul France
The Royal Cornwall Showground has gained access to fibre optic broadband as part of an ongoing rollout project.

A rollout project intended to introduce fibre optic broadband to homes and businesses across Cornwall has brought the superfast service to the Royal Cornwall Showground.

The venue is located in the Wadebridge area of the county, which was recently connected to a next-generation network as part of the Superfast Cornwall scheme. The programme is a collaboration between service provider BT, the European Union and Cornwall Council.

With the Royal Cornwall Showground becoming an increasingly popular venue for equestrian fans, the venue's representatives explained the upgrade in facilities has come at just the right time.

Secretary of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association Chris Riddle is one of the primary figures responsible for running the showground. He told Business Cornwall: "We have a great venue, centrally located in a lovely rural setting. Now we can offer visitors the reliable, fast wi-fi they desperately require for their events."

The Superfast Cornwall project will continue over the coming months and it is expected that 95 per cent of properties in the region will have access to fibre optic broadband by the end of next year.
