Fibre broadband comes to Bishopsworth

Wednesday, January 30th 2013 by Miles Northrop
High-speed fibre broadband is set to go live in Bishopsworth.

National network carrier BT has announced that super-fast fibre optic broadband has gone live in the south-west region of Bishopsworth.

More than 9,500 households and local businesses are expected to be able to benefit from the high-speed internet revolution as a result of this development.

Redcliffe, Eastville, Fishponds, Henbury and Westbury-on-Trym are also due to be upgraded by the end of 2013 - and the initiative forms a part of BT's nationwide £2.5 billion fibre roll-out programme.

South-west regional director for BT Jon Reynolds claimed that this fibre network expansion brings a boost for local economies wherever it is implemented - so is particularly welcome against the current economic backdrop.

"As more than a million UK households and businesses have already discovered, fibre broadband opens up a whole new world to internet users," he commented.

"Whatever you're doing online, you can do it better and faster with fibre," the expert continued.
