Countesthorpe, Whetstone and Huncote have now gained access to fibre optic broadband.

Superfast Leicestershire has delivered fibre optic broadband to three more villages in the county, with homes and businesses in Countesthorpe, Whetstone and Huncote now able to connect to the network.

The arrival of the high-speed technology has been welcomed by the Blaby district communities, who are set to benefit from significantly improved internet speeds if they choose to sign up to fibre from their service provider.

For example, local people will be able to shop online ahead of Christmas, while accessing the web via several devices at a time in one household will also be made much easier.

Leader of Blaby District Council Ernie White commented: "I'm pleased to see superfast broadband is available to more properties in the three villages and look forward to it being rolled out further across the rest of the area."

Brand new green roadside cabinets have been installed in the three villages to deliver better broadband to local residents and the rollout is set to continue, with Superfast Leicestershire aiming to connect around 62,000 domestic properties and commercial buildings to the technology in total.
