Fibre broadband goes live across West Sussex

More West Sussex properties will gain access to super-fast broadband in the coming weeks.

Fibre optic broadband has gone live in more communities across West Sussex as part of BT's national rollout.

Engineers from the telecoms giant are set to complete the series of upgrades in the coming weeks, to the benefit of around 50,000 homes and businesses in Southwater, Littlehampton, Worthing Swandean, Worthing West and Rustington.

This rollout will help to boost the number of West Sussex properties with access to fibre broadband to approximately 270,000 by the end of next year.

The next-generation broadband infrastructure will be open to rival internet service providers on a wholesale basis, allowing BT's competitors to offer their own products via the network.

John Weaver, BT's south-east regional director, said the West Sussex premises are joining 11 million residential and commercial properties across the UK that are already covered by the company's fibre broadband footprint.

"Local authorities and business organisations want fibre broadband to reach as many local homes and businesses as possible and we are offering to work with them to achieve their aspirations," he commented.
