Fibre broadband support offered to North Yorks businesses

Wednesday, February 27th 2013 by Miles Northrop
Businesses in North Yorkshire are being given tips on how to make use of super-fast broadband.

Businesses across North Yorkshire are being offered help and advice on how to take full advantage of fibre optic broadband technology.

As part of the Superfast North Yorkshire partnership between BT and the county council, local firms will be able to sign up for free training workshops, support services, skills masterclasses and networking events, reports the York Press.

Four information seminars will also be held over the coming weeks in Malton (March 7th 2013), Whitby (March 13th), Selby (March 14th), Scarborough (March 15th) and Ripon (March 20th).

Aided by millions of pounds of central government funding, Superfast North Yorkshire aims to deliver fibre optic broadband to 90 per cent of homes and businesses across the county by the end of 2014.

The remaining one-tenth of properties will be able to receive speeds of at least 2Mbps by this time.

As well as providing faster broadband across North Yorkshire, the project will address rural connectivity by bringing together earlier initiatives by the county council and NYnet.
