Developer Places for People has had next-generation broadband installed at the Brooklands site.

Some of the UK's fastest fibre optic broadband connections have been rolled out at a new property development in the south-east.

Brooklands in Milton Keynes, developed by Places for People, has had super-fast broadband installed from the local exchange to street cabinets and then on to individual homes, offering speeds of between 50 and 200Mbps.

According to the Milton Keynes Citizen, the first households in the area have now been hooked up to the next-generation broadband service.

Telecoms firm Independent Fibre Networks (IFN) was called on by Places for People to install the fibre optic cables that supply the properties with high-speed internet access.

Ed Attree of IFN commented: "There certainly won't be many places in the whole country where people's internet connections are as fast as here."

While Brooklands residents can enjoy download rates of up to 200Mbps, the UK's average broadband speed stands at 7.5Mbps, according to recently published research from Ofcom.
