Hyperoptic boosts expansion plans with new Director of Sales

Per-Gunnar Ostby has been named as Hyperoptic's new Director of Sales.

Fibre optic broadband network operator Hyperoptic says it is ratcheting up its UK expansion by appointing Per-Gunnar Ostby as its new Director of Sales.

Mr Ostby worked with Hyperoptic Chairman Boris Ivanovic and Managing Director Dana Tobak at their previous company Be, a consumer broadband start-up established in 2005 and sold to O2 a year later.

He joins Hyperoptic from his previous role at Quest Software, where he headed up the sales team responsible for emerging markets.

The appointment of the new Director of Sales comes shortly after Hyperoptic announced a £50 million investment from Quantum Strategic Partners that will help the company achieve its goal of deploying gigabit fibre optic broadband to more than half a million UK homes within the next five years.

Ms Tobak said Mr Ostby is joining the operator at an exciting time. "We hope to be in a position to roll out our ground-breaking fibre-to-the-home technology to several new UK cities in the next few months and are already seeing immense demand from consumers for more 'hypercities'," she explained.
