A focus on delivering enhanced broadband is being encouraged for the new government.

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has revealed the top issues that smaller companies across the country would like to see addressed by the new government during the next five years.

After securing a surprise majority in the House of Commons, the now full-Tory government is being called upon to live up to its pre-election pledges, with the delivery of enhanced broadband connectivity for the whole of the nation one of the chief areas of progress being requested.

Other measures the FSB would like to see implemented to bolster the position of smaller businesses across the UK in the coming years include a reduction in regulatory burden, a more simplified tax system and increased investment in infrastructure.

FSB national policy chairman Mike Cherry commented: "We look forward to meeting with ministers to discuss how we can help make this happen and continue to foster the economic conditions which allow enterprise to flourish."
