Jim Paice MP is encouraging his constituents to register their demand for super-fast broadband access.

South East Cambridgeshire MP Jim Paice has called for local people to show their desire for access to fibre optic broadband services.

Private sector telecoms firms need to invest in rollouts if the county is to benefit from super-fast broadband connectivity, but residents and businesses must illustrate their level of demand for the technology to attract this spending, the MP claimed.

By registering their support for the Connecting Cambridgeshire initiative, people can play their part in bringing faster broadband to the area, Mr Paice said.

He added: "I have been campaigning for better broadband provision in rural areas for many years as I know all the advantages that broadband offers, both for individuals and businesses."

Connecting Cambridgeshire aims to bring super-fast broadband to 90 per cent of local homes and businesses by 2015, with 2Mbps speeds for all other properties.

According to the campaign, faster broadband will create jobs, boost growth, improve healthcare services and help people learn new skills.
