New broadband campaign launched in Oxfordshire

Villages in Oxfordshire are hoping for new superfast broadband connectivity following the launch of a new campaign.

A new campaign has been launched in Oxfordshire aimed at promoting the wider delivery of improved broadband connectivity for rural villages across the county.

Connect8 has revealed the Better Broadband for Oxfordshire project, which is calling on BT to include the villages of Howe Hill, Britwell Hill, Cookley Green, Greenfield, Park Corner, Pishill with Stonor, Russells Water and Swyncombe in its future plans for broadband rollout.

Peter Richardson, a local member of the campaign group, told the Henley Standard: "What we're trying to do is persuade BT that it would be worthwhile spending money in this area.

"About 50 per cent of people in the area work from home - virtually everybody would sign up."

He added that many residents across rural parts of the county are having to make do with poor access to superfast services, as well as facing issues like intermittent signal and low speeds.

The campaign has already received more than 50 signatures from individuals pledging their support.
