New cable broadband network to boost Dorset business communications?

A project championed by the Dorset Public Sector Network could help businesses improve their communication using a high-speed broadband network.

A new cable broadband network could give businesses in Dorset a boost.

That is according to the Dorset Public Sector Network (DPSN), which is hoping to secure funding for a super-fast internet connection in the area, the View Online reports.

Communications between enterprises could "leap forward" if the scheme is given the go-ahead, the publication explains, adding that community and business endeavours should be improved as a result.

If the cash is allocated to the DPSN initiative, it will see cable broadband delivered to areas where it is not otherwise available through existing service providers.

A workshop to garner support for the bid is being held on March 24th in Dorchester.

Meanwhile, the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition's Big Society programme could also see businesses given better internet access.

Malcolm Corbett, chief executive officer of the Independent Networks Cooperative Association, recently wrote in the Guardian that people will benefit from the intended investment.
