Petition for faster broadband in Mickleham

Mickleham residents in Surrey are calling on their local authority to deliver improved broadband services.

The residents of Mickleham in Surrey have put together a petition to highlight their frustration regarding a present lack of broadband connectivity in the local area.

More than 200 signatures have been secured and submitted to Surrey County Council in support of delivering superfast connections to the area, the Dorking and Leatherhead Advertiser reports.

A total of 93.9 per cent of areas are already covered under proposals to deliver next-generation online services for the county, but Mickleham is not currently included in broadband rollout plans.

This is an issue that members of the local community are keen to see quickly addressed, however, and Surrey County Council is therefore being urged to increase its commitment to broadband activities for the area in the coming months.

Mickleham resident Mary Flint, who launched the petition, told the local publication: "It is an unacceptable situation for a village that is halfway between Dorking and Leatherhead and within a 45-minute commute of London to be left out from this essential service."
