Super-fast fibre broadband 'can transform internet experiences'

Towns that have the broadband package may find going online is easier and more enjoyable.

Super-fast fibre broadband can see online speeds increase by at least three times and it offers a greater experience of the internet.

That is the view of Brendan Dick, BT's director for Scotland, who spoke after it emerged broadband speeds in parts of the country could become ten times faster when BT Infinity is rolled out.

He said: "Customers are telling us that it has transformed their experience of the internet."

And towns that have already switched revealed 75 per cent of customers have seen speeds increase by a minimum of three times, although many have exceeded this rise.

When customers learn of the benefit involved they may well be encouraged to switch for both leisure and business purposes, Mr Dick noted.

His comments follow the announcement that BT will spend some £1 million towards boosting broadband speeds in rural regions of Northern Ireland, with an equal sum being contributed via public money.
