TalkTalk promotes fibre broadband by sponsoring village football team

TalkTalk has struck a sponsorship deal with a Welsh village football team to promote its fibre broadband service.

TalkTalk is promoting its superfast fibre optic broadband service through a new sponsorship deal with a Welsh Alliance football team from the village with the longest place name in Europe.

Clwb Pel Droed Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch are based in a small village on the Isle of Anglesey that has recently been upgraded as part of TalkTalk's fibre broadband rollout.

The communications company is raising awareness of the project through the new deal, which has seen the club start selling replica shirts carrying its full name and logo.

Steve Smith, Communications Director and player for the Welsh team, said the partnership - which has seen his home connection speed rise to 57Mbps - has generated interest from Belgium, France and Portugal, and has even resulted in them being interviewed by ESPN in Brazil and on Canadian radio.

Some 15 million households are able to access superfast broadband from TalkTalk, which is available in two different tiers - offering speeds of up to 38Mbps or 76Mbps.
