Workshops to teach Rutland and Lincolnshire residents about fibre broadband

Wednesday, January 22nd 2014 by Paul France
Workshops in Rutland and Lincolnshire will teach residents about the benefits of fibre optic broadband.

People from Rutland and Lincolnshire will discover the benefits that fibre optic broadband can offer them thanks to a series of workshops.

The Online Lincolnshire and Digital Rutland projects have joined forces to offer the community-based service, which will inform attendees how to get the best out of superfast speeds, reports the Skegness Standard.

Executive Member for Economic Development at Lincolnshire County Council Colin Davie explained that in order for business owners in the area to harness the true potential of the next-generation network, some may want to ask experts questions about the technology involved.

He said: "At the first workshop there were a number of small group sessions that allowed us to answer questions on a one-to-one basis and identify untapped online opportunities."

Mr Davies added that this could prove to be particularly important for small to medium-sized enterprises in the region, who may find they are able to facilitate unprecedented growth in the coming months and years, thanks to a greater level of connectivity.
