Yorkshire church's congregation get free fibre broadband

Monday, October 21st 2013 by Paul France
Nafferton Methodist Church has gained access to fibre optic broadband.

Church-goers from the Nafferton area of East Yorkshire have been given free access to fibre broadband thanks to a local initiative.

LN Communications, which operates in the market town of Driffield, has supplied Nafferton Methodist Church with superfast speeds of up to 30Mbps and a free laptop.

The move is intended to allow local residents to get a feel for the next-generation technology before they commit to a deal to bring the service to their own home.

Simon Hayhurst of LN Communications said: "We are really pleased to be able to support Nafferton Methodist Church so they can benefit from our ilovebroadband service."

The church is now running a Computer Club every Thursday afternoon, which gives the congregation an opportunity to discuss the new technology and its potential benefits.

Nafferton is set to be included in the Broadband East Riding project, which will bring fibre broadband to the majority of the region from summer 2014.
