Arcol UK has become the 10,000th customer in Cornwall to sign up for fibre broadband with BT.

Cornish electronics manufacturer Arcol UK is receiving speeds of around 92Mbps after signing up to fibre optic broadband with BT.

The company, which is based at the Threemilestone Industrial Estate in Truro, has become the 10,000th customer to subscribe to the Superfast Cornwall service, delivered by BT in partnership with the EU and Cornwall Council.

Alun Morgan, technical director at Arcol, said the business's experience of fibre optic broadband has so far been "really superb", with speeds increasing 60-fold on the 1.5Mbps rates that were previously received.

This makes a "colossal difference" to the company, allowing it to perform tasks far more quickly and efficiently, he explained.

"Super-fast broadband even gave us the chance to base a salesman in Buckinghamshire in order to service the UK market more effectively," Mr Morgan added.

Five months ago, BT revealed the Superfast Cornwall network had been rolled out to one-quarter of all homes and businesses across the county and the Isles of Scilly.
