BT announces early deployment of 110Mbps fibre broadband

The service will become available before the end of October.

BT's up to 110Mbps fibre optic broadband product is set to receive early market deployment before the end of the month.

The next-generation fibre-to-the-home service will be available on or before October 31st 2011 in six exchange areas across England, the telecoms giant has announced.

Ashford in Middlesex, Bradwell Abbey, Chester South, Highams Park, St Austell and York are the only exchange areas that are set to be included in the initial rollout.

However, Openreach - BT's local access network business - has stated it will not be offering minimum service levels straight after the initial launch.

Guarantees will only be put in place once the organisation has had the opportunity to assess the performance of its new fibre optic broadband offering.

The news comes shortly after BT announced it will bring fibre broadband to a further 114 exchange areas across the UK between now and autumn 2012.

More than one million homes and businesses are in line to receive faster speeds thanks to the work.
