The Lightspeed package offers download speeds of up to 40Mbps.

Eclipse Internet has launched a new range of fibre optic broadband products offering residential customers access to speeds of up to 40Mbps.

The Lightspeed package allows consumers to choose between up to 2Mbps and up to 10Mbps upload capabilities, while unlimited usage overnight and at weekends comes as standard.

Several monthly allowances are being offered by Eclipse, starting at 10GB for entry-level subscribers and going up to "truly unlimited usage" for those who are unwilling to be held back by data caps.

Clodagh Murphy, director of Eclipse Internet, claimed the majority of people are "pragmatic" about selecting the fibre optic broadband package that best fits their needs.

"[They] want simple packages that they can switch up or switch down if necessary," she stated.

Earlier this month, the internet service provider (ISP) was named as a finalist in both the Comms National Awards and the PC Pro Excellence Awards.

The company is in the running for best ISP at both of the ceremonies.
