EE fibre broadband goes live to 11 million properties

Tuesday, October 30th 2012 by Paul France
EE has announced the launch of its first super-fast fixed broadband service.

Mobile network operator Everything Everywhere (EE) has today (October 30th 2012) launched its first fibre optic broadband service.

Available to 11 million homes and businesses, the super-fast broadband proposition offers speeds that are approximately ten times the UK average, according to the latest Ofcom figures.

Subscribers to the fibre broadband product will receive download speeds of up to 76Mbps, allowing them to take advantage of bandwidth-heavy online services such as gaming and streaming high-definition TV.

By the end of the year, the next-generation fixed broadband network is set to cover 50 per cent of the UK population.

EE has also rolled out the UK's first 4G mobile broadband service, which is going live in 11 major cities from today.

Olaf Swantee, chief executive of EE, commented: "We have a pioneering and unique offer to customers across the UK - super-fast speeds in the home, super-fast speeds on the move and expert service on nearly every high street in Britain."
