Entanet reports surprising fibre optic broadband demand

Demand for Entanet's FTTC services has been better than anticipated.

Entanet has reported higher-than-expected demand for its fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) broadband product from businesses.

The internet service provider (ISP) claimed fibre broadband is helping its partners to achieve strong new sales growth, despite Ofcom stating uptake of the technology has been generally poor.

A report published by the regulator earlier this week showed 59 per cent of UK homes are able to access super-fast broadband from BT and Virgin Media, but only four per cent of households are subscribed to one of these packages.

Some 53 per cent of contracts for Entanet's fibre optic broadband service have been taken out by new customers.

Stephen Barclay, head of sales at the ISP, said the high percentage of new subscribers choosing to sign up for its FTTC deals has been surprising.

"That's great news as it shows just how attractive our portfolio is to business customers and it's helping our channel partners to grow their customer bases," he commented.
