Leading figures from the IT industry are set to attend an industry meeting in Scotland this week.

IT industry professionals and technology firms are set to gather in Forres, Moray this week to discuss the opportunities offered by fibre optic broadband.

The expo, entitled Capitalising on the Cloud: Applying New Practices to Deliver Business, will take place at the Scottish town's Enterprise Park on Tuesday (November 8th 2011).

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), Scottish Enterprise and the ICT Knowledge Transfer Network have sponsored the event, which will comprise a series of networking opportunities and presentations.

Theresa Swayne of HIE said the industry meet-up is designed to help attendees make the most of the advantages that fibre broadband access will deliver.

"It is also an excellent opportunity for businesses to find out the benefits of lowering their carbon footprint with the use of ICT, leading to financial savings," she added.

Capitalising on the Cloud will take place shortly before the NextGen 2011 conference in Bristol, which is set to run on November 16th and 17th and has been described as the UK's premier showcase for digital infrastructure.
