Hyperoptic rolls out 1Gbps fibre broadband to Isle of Dogs

Lanterns Court on the Isle of Dogs has been included in a fibre broadband rollout.

Hyperoptic has rolled out its ultra-fast fibre optic broadband service to the Lanterns Court and City Nites block on the Isle of Dogs.

Around 60 apartments are located in the block, with about one-sixth of these already connected to the broadband network, which offers speeds of up to 1Gbps.

Brian Doherty, director of sales and marketing at Hyperoptic, said Canary Wharf can legitimately be described as the "heartbeat of London", but the local exchange at Poplar delivers slow services and is one of the most congested in the country.

"This is why our direct fibre approach is such a good match for City Nites - as it bypasses this congestion and gives the travellers pure speed and an unparalleled broadband experience," he explained.

Hyperoptic claimed a UK first when it introduced its 1Gbps fibre optic broadband service last October.

The 133-flat Prices Court riverside development in Wandsworth, London was the first building to be included in the deployment.
