IT expert says fibre broadband will make big difference to Marton

Residents and businesses in Marton will notice a "big difference" when fibre broadband goes live in the village, an IT consultant has said.

Fibre optic broadband will make a huge difference to the Warwickshire village of Marton, a technology expert has explained.

Marton was one of the winners of BT's Race to Infinity competition, which challenged communities across the UK to display their level of demand for super-fast broadband access.

Speaking to the Kenilworth Weekly News, IT consultant Michael Koch said the fibre broadband service - which will be rolled out from March - will offer major improvements over the current internet connections available in the area.

"It's going to make a big difference. I sometimes think people don't realise what kind of scale this will be. It will go from the ridiculous to the sublime," remarked Mr Koch, who was one of the people to lead Marton's Race to Infinity bid.

A total of ten communities - including Baschurch in Shropshire, Caxton in Cambridgeshire and Whitchurch in Hampshire - were eventually chosen by BT as winners of the competition.
