KC includes Driffield in fibre broadband upgrade

Ashwood Gardens in Driffield has been upgraded to KC's super-fast broadband service.

Driffield has become the latest east Yorkshire community to be included in KC's Lightspeed fibre optic broadband rollout programme.

The internet service provider has delivered super-fast broadband with 100Mbps speeds to the market town, allowing residents to download at more than 14 times the rate of traditional broadband connections.

To offer such fast capabilities, KC is rolling out fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) broadband, which sees fibre optic cables extended all the way to an individual home or business.

Ashwood Gardens has become the first part of Driffield to gain access to the service.

Steven Gate, one of the first residents to sign up for the Lightspeed service, commented: "Not having to wait for pages and files to download makes for a more satisfying online experience and my son's also noticed a big improvement when online gaming."

Last December, KC rolled out the fibre broadband proposition to the village of Weel, allowing residents to take part in a trial of FTTP without download limits.
