KC to showcase fibre broadband at east Yorks education event

Friday, April 19th 2013 by Miles Northrop
Education professionals will be shown the advantages of super-fast broadband at an event in east Yorkshire next week.

KC will demonstrate the benefits of fibre optic broadband to east Yorkshire schools at a free IT event in the region aimed at the education sector.

More than 30 organisations are set to exhibit at Getting IT Right: E-learning 2013, which will take place at the Mercure Hotel in Willerby next Tuesday (April 23rd).

Organised by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hull City Council, the event is designed to inform education professionals about the latest trends and innovations for teachers.

KC will be on hand to talk about its Lightspeed fibre optic broadband service, which offers downstream speeds of up to 100Mbps - around ten times faster than a typical connection.

Dozens of local schools - including Willerby Carr Lane Primary School - have already signed up for the service.

Leanne Gill, account manager at KC, said: "Local schools have been quick to see the opportunities that faster broadband presents when it comes to enriching learning and are using KC Lightstream to take pupils well beyond the classroom."
