KC to unveil new fibre broadband trial sites before Christmas

Nick Thompson of KC has said the new locations for its fibre broadband trial will be unveiled shortly.

Fibre optic broadband provider KC has promised to reveal the next locations that will be included in its rollout of next-generation internet services in the coming weeks.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, the company's director of consumer services Nick Thompson explained the new pilot sites are set to be unveiled before Christmas.

Last month, KC announced five tower blocks in the Great Thornton Street area of Hull will be included in the fibre broadband trial scheme, with residents offered up to 80Mbps speeds and unlimited downloads in return for giving feedback on the performance of their connection.

KC began deploying fibre-based broadband infrastructure in the village of Woodmansey in September.

Mr Thompson went on to insist Hull residents who are not in line to benefit from the fibre broadband pilot can still enjoy impressive levels of connectivity.

"The vast majority of our customers already receive download speeds that would be the envy of many broadband users elsewhere in the UK," he said.
