The appointment of a new non-executive director at CityFibre promises to "enhance" the company.

CityFibre - a leading broadband infrastructure company - has announced the appointment of Sally Davis as a Non-Executive Director.

Ms Davies was previously the chief executive of BT Wholesale and will help to oversee new projects that will bring faster internet connectivity to businesses and homes around the UK.

Greg Mesch, Chief Executive at CityFibre, said Ms Davies' appointment validates its strategy of rapid expansion and will make it better placed to enhance the prevalence of fibre optic broadband across the UK.

"CityFibre is one of a very few businesses committed to providing pure fibre connectivity as opposed to fibre-to-the-cabinet technology relying on the old copper-based network," Ms Smith commented.

The appointment comes as CityFibre celebrates success in Bournemouth and York, which has seen a huge boost in download speeds thanks to its investment.

A further funding scheme has been announced for Peterborough and will bring super-fast internet to residents in the Cambridgeshire town.
