North Yorkshire's Newby Hall boosted by fibre broadband

Broadband provider NYnet has set up a 20Mbps fibre connection at Newby Hall near Ripon.

Fibre broadband has helped to attract businesses to The Stables at Newby Hall, a business centre situated in the grounds of the historic North Yorkshire mansion.

Broadband provider NYnet was hired to install a 20Mbps connection at the office development, with IT support company Skipton Systems helping to ensure the service reached other parts of the estate as well.

The network can now be accessed by the estate office, entrance pavilion, restaurant and Newby Hall itself, bringing communications at the Grade I listed building into the 21st century and making The Stables an attractive rural location for businesses.

Paul Crane, business development director at NYnet, admitted that it was initially a "challenge" to bring super-fast broadband to The Stables.

"We really investigated every possible solution to get connectivity to the park but fibre was really the only viable option," he explained.

Situated between Ripon and Harrogate, Newby Hall is open to public visitors between March and October.

The mansion house, which dates back to the 1690s, was designed with the assistance of Sir Christopher Wren and is situated within 25 acres of award-winning gardens.
