Superfast rollout for remotest village in Wales

Dinas Mawddwy has been joined up to the Superfast Cymru programme.

The Superfast Cymru programme has continued apace over recent months and achieved the key milestone of reaching the remotest village in Wales - Dinas Mawddwy in Gwynedd - last week (28 November 2014).

Announced by Deputy Minister for Skills and Technology at the Welsh Assembly Government Julie James, the work has been completed by BT engineers and has seen the installation of more than 16 km of overhead fibre and 20 km of underground cabling.

It now means businesses and residents in the village will be able to benefit from download speeds of up to 330 Mbps over Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) connections.

Local business owner Mark Faith stated his "delight" at the provision of superfast connectivity for Dinas Mawddwy.

"We're a rural business that relies heavily on the internet. We haven't had the service long but I can already see how having fibre will open up new opportunities to develop our business," Mr Faith commented.
