Berkshire broadband rollout gathering pace

Hundreds of properties have been connected to superfast broadband via the ongoing Superfast Berkshire scheme.

The rollout of superfast broadband services across Berkshire continues to gather pace, with the latest figures showing more than 1,800 properties are now able to receive these faster connections across the county.

Broadband speeds of up to 80 Mbps are now being delivered in many areas and these numbers continue to grow through the efforts of the ongoing £8 million Superfast Berkshire project, the Windsor Observer reports.

Locales to have seen the strongest growth in connectivity over recent months include Littlewick Green, Windsor, Bourne End, Colnbrook, Ascot, North Ascot and Sunninghill.

Council Leader David Burbage told the news provider: "Superfast broadband is a vital tool for business and commerce and I am pleased that these properties that previously did not have it now do; the overall benefits for local businesses and residents are enormous."

He added these latest figures highlight a considerable step forward for the county, as many areas had previously suffered from slow connection speeds.
